Gfci With No Reset Button
If the reset button is out but the plugged in devices work there could be a reversed line and load.
Gfci with no reset button. Also if no power is reaching the gfi it may not reset. The only switch i can find is the breaker. Look for loose or bad connections. I have a gfci outlet that tripped.
I don t know how to reset it. The original gfci receptacle at another location in the home has tripped and as a result the new gfci will not reset the circuit. My bathrooms appear to be on a separate circuit and all have test and reset buttons. It does not have a reset button and i ve tested several other gfci outlets that don t work either.
A gfci outlet will look like an ordinary power outlet but will have two buttons that say test and reset and possibly small led light. None of the other 4 have the reset button. Is is not tripped and resetting it has no effect. Test and reset every gfci you find.
In rare cases the circuit interrupter could be defective. I have gone th. On a previous rv a few of the non bathroom gfcis were on their own circuit and were reset by a switch in the basement. You can press the test button to test the electrical circuit to make sure that everything is ok.
I looked around for other gfcis in the area and haven t found any but there are a lot of outlets and i am sure that i haven t found them all yet. The button is helpful to ensure that the electrical circuit is receiving electricity and that everything is working on the circuit. I hope you can help me. One of the silly ways a gfci outlet will trip is by a person accidentally pressing the test button. A gfci or gfi outlet may not reset because there s a ground fault occurring at a regular outlet that s not working or somewhere else downstream of the gfi. Often the tripped gfi will allow itself to be reset by the red reset button since the cause of its tripping was a passing thing. The test button does not push in the reset button does but does not pop the outlet back on.
That one also happens to have a reset button right on the outlet. When a ground fault or other circuit problem occurs the circuit goes dead but the new gfci actually has not tripped. The ones in the kitchen do but they are all showing green lights i haven t tested them yet or hit the reset button on them i ll try that. Look for gfcis in bathrooms kitchens basements garages and on the home s exterior.
If the gfci won t reset or the button doesn t pop out when you press the test button there may be no power to the gfci or you may have a bad gfci.
