Hot Receptacle
For standard outlet wiring the white neutral wire can go on either of the two silver terminals since they are interchangeable.
Hot receptacle. An electrical outlet that s hot to the touch. The most important thing to do if an electrical outlet is hot is to find the circuit breaker that controls. In most cases only the line tab is removed. Just rewire the new receptacle the same way the old one was wired.

I originally had them linked like this. But after i felt it was hot i switched to linking them like this. Each air conditioner runs at around 400 watts once the compressor is running.
The three wires in a standard nmb cable are connected to the three prongs of a standard electrical outlet properly called a receptacle. Connect the black hot wire or black pigtail to one of the brass hot screw terminals on the receptacle. You may also wire the receptacle so that a switch controls the upper outlet and the lower outlet is on or hot all the time. A split receptacle has one or both tabs removed to isolate each terminal from the other.
Likewise the black hot wire can go on either brass screw terminal. If all of the outlets are on the same circuit in your room then the electrical current being used by one outlet may pass through another one. When you connect the load at the receptacle the hot to ground receptacle source voltage should be the sum of the hot to neutral voltage the voltage across the load and the neutral to ground voltage the voltage drop on the neutral wire all the way back to its connection to the ground circuit fig. 2 on page 34.
As you can see the neutral and hot wires are connected to the two vertical prongs at the top of the receptacle neutral on the left hot on the right and the ground wire is connected to the round prong at the bottom of the receptacle. So even if nothing is plugged into the warm outlet it could feel hot to the touch because there s excessive demand on another outlet on the same circuit. In this case you need to remove the break off tab connecting the two sets of like colored terminals on each side of the receptacle. Here are the steps to take.
Here s why it makes your outlet hot. Outlet receptacle 1 is the one that runs hot outlet 2 and 3 do not. It can be particularly dangerous coming into contact with an open hot wire. The purpose of this circuit is for window air conditioners.
If you find one that is then something has gone wrong and you need to address it immediately. An electrical outlet should never be hot.
