Current Voltage
When a voltage source is connected to a circuit the voltage will cause a uniform flow of charge carriers through that circuit called a current.
Current voltage. Current is the rate of flow of electric charge. It is the push that causes charges to move in a wire or other electrical conductor it can be thought of as the force that pushes the charges but it is not a force voltage can cause charges to move and since moving charges is a current voltage can cause a current. Just like voltage resistance is a quantity relative between two points. A potential difference voltage across an electrical component is needed to make a current flow through it.
Therefore the conventional current in a wire or resistor always flows from higher voltage to lower voltage. However in this experiment we are simply trying to protect the led from over current so we will neglect the current characteristics of the led and choose the resistor value using ohm s law in order to be sure that the current through the led is safely under 20ma. The amount of current in a circuit depends on the amount of voltage and the amount of resistance in the circuit to oppose current flow. Voltage also called electromotive force is the potential difference in charge between two points in an electrical field.
In a single one loop circuit the amount of current at any point is the same as the amount of current at any other point. A current voltage characteristic or i v curve current voltage curve is a relationship typically represented as a chart or graph between the electric current through a circuit device or material and the corresponding voltage or potential difference across it. The led introduces something called a voltage drop into the circuit thus changing the amount of current running through it. Current is the rate at which electric charge flows past a point in a circuit.
For this reason the quantities of voltage and resistance are often stated as being between or across two points in a circuit. Current versus voltage comparison chart. Voltage is what makes electric charges move.
