Red White Black Wires Outlet

The red wire switched hot wire going to the outlet wires into the other side of the switch and the white wires neutral tie together to complete the return side of the circuit.

Usually though you see a red wire only when the outlet is a 240 volt one or when it s controlled by a switch. Not sure whether you can make one of the outlets in yout usb wall outlet switchable. By convention the other is usually black but it could be red.

Never connect a hot red or black wire to ground nor to the white neutral wire doing so would form a dead short should trip a breaker or if not could cause a fire or could cause a dangerous shock. Place the end of the black wire in the port next to one of the unlabeled screws and the red wire in the port on the other. With a dual wall outlet one outlet is always on and the other outlet is controlled by a switch. A red wire in an electrical outlet often indicates a second positive live wire.

Then the red wire in your box goes to the non white wire on your ceiling fan which is often blue. A twin outlet has a link that joins the 2 outlets together. White is common neutral and ground is obviously ground connect those. The white wires on the fan go to the bundle of white wires.

It is tied together with a wire going to the switch and the black wire going to the outlet. If there is a hot wire that is not used in a junction box sop would be to cap it off with a twist on connector.
